Abstract
Strike-Dip Indicator: NOTES
Richard R. Parizek
ABSTRACT
A strike-dip indicator was designed to facilitate rapid determination of the orientation of surfaces in unconsolidated deposits. It is made of aluminum and contains two spirit levels to determine the strike and dip direction. Dip angles are indicated on a graduated arm to the nearest degree. Strike and dip direction are obtained with a Brunton Compass used in conjunction with the instrument. A blade is inserted along the surface to be measured and a hinge and swivel are provided for three dimensional leveling prior to obtaining readings.
