Abstract
Pseudo- and Dubiofossils from the Newland Limestone (Belt Supergroup, Late Precambrian), Montana
Allan M. Gutstadt
ABSTRACT
Presumed algal remains described by Walcott (1914) under the names "Camasia," "Copperia," "Greysonia," and "Newlandia major" are pseudofossils formed by replacement along fractures and bedding planes. Newlandia frondosa and N. lamellosa, also named by Walcott, could be algal stromatolites and are retained as dubiofossils.
