Abstract
A Technique for Detecting Grain Motion in Wind Tunnels and Flumes: METHOD PAPER
William G. Nickling, Miles Ecclestone
ABSTRACT
A system using a low power, red laser has been designed for the measurement of the shear velocity necessary to initiate movement of sand grains in air. The design of the system is relatively simple and the construction costs moderate. Although designed for use in wind tunnel experiments the system could be modified for use in flumes and wave tanks.
