The New Petroleum Geology

Dr. Sylvain J. Pirson

Abstract

A comprehensive system of oil and gas exploration (and perhaps other minerals) is herewith presented which does not depend on reservoir rock lithology nor on fluid properties. Confinement of oil is altogether dependent on subsurface Redox Property contrasts as retaining barriers for the accumulation of hydrocarbons and of other minerals. Oil may be present not only at structurally high places but also in synclines, monoclines, upthrows and downthrows of faults. Structural conditions are irrelevant for the finding of oil by this concept.
