Palaeo - Environmental Studies in Brunei
Abstract
Measured sections of Neogene deltaic sediments in Brunei are presented together with interpretations of depositional environments. Comparisons with modern environments suggest that jarosite may be a useful indicator for intertidal, mangrove swamp deposition. Substantial thicknesses of unfossiliferous strata showing sedimentary structures, including burrows identical to those found in shallow marine sediments, are probably deposited in alluvial floodplain environments above a saline intrusion.
