The Geology of the Andaman Sea Basin

Abstract

The Andaman Sea Basin is located between the oil producing Myanmar Basin to the north and similarly oil producing Sumatra Basin in the south. The Andaman Basin is divided into Fore-arc and Back-arc basins, Martaban basin in the north, end North Sumatra basins in the south. The stratigraphy and tectonics of the area is presented and discussed based on seismic and drilling results.
