Structural Characterization of Offshore Southwest Palawan, Philippines Using the Most Recent 2D/3D Seismic Data

Monina T. Forbes, Charmaine B. Mapaye, Jaime A. Bacud

Abstract

Greatly improved seismic imaging offshore Southwest Palawan, Philippines allows identification of the following: four major structural features, half-graben feature and thick synrift deposit, varying deformational styles in the Fold-Thrust Belt, duplication of major Nido Limestone reservoir, and the geometries of new potential Miocene reservoirs. Materials within the Fold-Thrust Belt are early to middle Miocene in age (Pagasa Equivalent) or older materials that are currently interpreted as reworked/ allochthonous. The new data provides a larger playground for exploration and increases the number of potential drilling targets in the Fold- Thrust Belt.
