Abstract
Abstract: Mesozoic Stratigraphic Evolution of the North Carnarvon Basin Unlocked Using Olympus 3D
Interpretation of the Olympus 3D dataset has for the first time allowed interpreters to provide a detailed description of Mesozoic stratigraphy in the North Carnarvon Basin on a high quality and continuous dataset. The dataset, which BP licensed from Spectrum in 2016, covers almost 20,000 km2, combines 19 3D surveys and is broadband processed from field tapes to create a unified PSDM volume. BP has described Triassic depositional environments using various seismic attributes and extraction techniques, which show good contrast between low-stand and high-stand fluvial channel complexes and marginal marine clastic systems. Enhanced PSDM processing allows for better seal and reservoir thickness and net to gross assessments, which can now be tied back to well and field data on a continuous survey.
