ABSTRACT

Efficient management of all the data necessary to conduct large-scale exploration projects can be a massive and challenging undertaking. This chapter details the inefficiencies of traditional data-handling procedures, discusses some new and beneficial technological advances in Previous HitinformationNext Hit management, and outlines the application of a much-improved strategy to administer corporate data resources. The new process integrates Previous HitgeographicNext Hit Previous HitinformationNext Hit Previous HitsystemsNext Hit (GIS) with the capabilities of the World Wide Web to facilitate a truer, more interconnected team approach. Its successful application is succinctly illustrated by an account of BP/Amoco's Venezuela Project.
