Abstract:
The Blue Ridge salt dome is a characteristic Gulf Coast salt dome and has a topographic mound, a stocklike salt core, a "lime" (gypsum) anhydrite cap, and steeply dipping beds on the flanks. The stratigraphic relations have been worked out by micro-paleontologic studies. The beds penetrated by the drill are Pleistocene to Jackson in age. Modest, somewhat freaky production has been established. The gravity of the oil ranges from 18° to 46° Baume, and on the average is around 28° Baume. The production is from flank sands.
