Abstract:

The Ninian oil field was discovered in January 1974 and went on production in December 1978. The reservoir is in fluvio-deltaic Middle Jurassic sand on a westward tilted horst block. The reservoir is limited on the various margins by a combination of erosional truncation faulting, and downdip by the oil water contact. Current estimates of reserves are 1.2 billion stock tank barrels of oil, 63 million stock tank barrels of natural gas liquids, and 230 BCF gas. As of June, 1979, field development has progressed to enable a daily production rate of approximately 225,000 BOPD.
