Abstract:

Results from recent Ocean Drilling Program cruises investigating the Galicia, the Norwegian, the Sardinian, and the northwest Australian margins allow tectonic and chronologic comparisons of the pre-, syn- and postrift history of these different passive continental margins. Scientific drilling in these regions, as well as recent drilling on the margins along northwest Africa, Oman, and East Antarctica, have increased our understanding of the depositional, tectonic, and paleoenvironmental histories of these regions.
