ABSTRACT

Borehole image (BHI) data are an essential pillar of detailed fracture characterization. The BHI is routinely interpreted in detail for structural (faults and fractures) and sedimentological (bedding, surfaces, facies) features on a well-by-well basis, with the support of open-hole logs and core photos. These interpretations focus on the well-scale structures and are commonly somehow detached from the larger, field-scale structures. The integration of borehole images with all subsurface data (e.g., seismic, well test, production data, reservoir properties from static model, etc.) is an important step to extract the most from the valuable data. This integration as well as a high-level three-dimensional interpretation is now easily achievable in SVS Fracture Solutions. This chapter illustrates the functionalities, which have been recently developed thanks to a collaborative effort between Petroleum Development Oman and Shell's Carbonate Development Team in Rijswijk, Netherlands.
