ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights the value of borehole image (BHI) and dipmeter
logs in modeling channelized reservoirs, particularly when fully integrated with core and regional geological understanding. To constrain a new generation of static and dynamic reservoir models for a cluster of southern Oman fields, 19 km (11.8 mi) of
dipmeter
and BHI logs were interpreted by various contractors. Integration of the results of the structural, facies, and paleotransport interpretations significantly contributed to the quality and robustness of the new generation of reservoir models. This had a profound impact on the petrophysical evaluation models, seismic integration, static reservoir modeling, development concepts, and the well and reservoir management strategy.
