Abstract:

The analysis of a mature steamflood in the South Belridge field was made possible due to an infill drilling program that provided detailed data from the reservoir. Conventional well log and temperature log data were used to build Previous Hit3-DTop models of the sand-shale geometrics and temperature structure over the entire reservoir thickness, and oil saturation maps for 14 sands within the reservoir. Graphic visualization of these models allowed insight as to the sand-shale geometry, thermal architecture, and steam-chest development in this steamflood. Volume analysis matched historical production data. Changes in operating policy based on the results of this analysis improved ultimate recovery along with operating efficiency.
