ABSTRACT

The physics of Previous HitinductionNext Hit well-logging measurements controls the fundamental vertical resolution of a well Previous HitlogNext Hit. Logs with great depth of investigation have coarser vertical resolution than the logs of smaller depth of investigation where measured by the same physical principles. For Previous HitlogTop-interpretation purposes, however, it is often convenient to have all logs at the same vertical resolution. The resolution matching technique essentially extracts high-resolution variations from a high-resolution curve and imposes them onto the low-resolution curve, to enhance the lower-resolution curve to the same resolution.
