Abstract:
The upper 5 m of a box core taken at station 1474 (R/V Atlantis II, 1969 Black Sea cruise) was analyzed for the presence of chlorophyll-degradation products. The results suggest that, over the last 10,000 years, plant production in the overlying waters has undergone marked variations, which are related to environmental fluctuations.
