Article/Chapter: Problems of Plate Tectonics and Continental Drift

Subject Group: Structure, Tectonics, Paleostructure

Spec. Pub. Type: Memoir

Pub. Year: 1974

Abstract:

Study of the modern theory of continental drift--including plate tectonics, convection, seafloor spreading, paleomagnetism, and classical evidence--shows that there are more faults with the hypothesis of drift than reasonably can be accepted. It is suggested that seafloor spreading alone be regarded as valid, and that convection and paleomagnetism be considered doubtful.
