The Cambrian of Northern Argentina

Juan Carlos M. Turner

Abstract

The Cambrian sandstones and shales of northern Argentina crop out in the Cordillera Oriental and can be divided into three formations, on the basis of differences of color and lithology. The thickness diminishes from north to south and varies greatly in an east west direction. The only fossils found so far are indeterminate brachiopods. Its exact Cambrian age is unknown.
