Abstract: New Opportunities for the Domestic Oil Business

By

Robey E. Clark

After many years of lessened prices for oil and natural gas, abrupt increases in the world price of oil and the sheer unavailability of natural gas combine to create an opportunity for the domestic oil industry to enter a new period of prosperity, while performing a signal service to the nation. With a new price structure, land men, geologists and geophysicists can substantially increase U. S. oil and gas production. Specific applications in several onshore and offshore provinces are reviewed.

Though total domestic self-sufficiency in oil and natural gas is unlikely, the picture is not nearly so bleak as purveyors of gloom and doom would have one believe.

As professionals we need to quit crying, to stand tall, look proud and do what we know how to do.
