Many developments have taken place this past year that
have a definite influence on the direction of the petroleum
geologist. Some of the items may have a negative effect and it
will be important for us to change this to a positive result. The
AAPG will do all that it can to soften the effect of cyclic
employment and to encourage a more futuristic picture of the
