Abstract
Abstract: Monte Christo Vicksburg (Eckart) Field
Hidalgo County, Texas
By
Initial production in the Monte Christo Field was established from the Frio formation in 1953 and the field was considered fully developed by 1974. Deeper activity, commencing in 1980, established deeper production primarily from the Vicksburg (Eckart) Reservoir, setting off a small drilling and discovery boom such that at present 53 separate field reservoirs are recognized by the Texas Railroad Commission.
A brief history of the discovery and development of the field is given, with particular emphasis on the structure, stratigraphy, and reservoir characteristics of the Vicksburg (Eckart) Reservoir in the field.
