Abstract: Case History: Amberjack A16ST (T) Previous HitWellNext Hit Pore Pressures

The Ambejack Field (Gulf of Mexico: Mississippi Canyon 109) was originally drilled in the early 90s. A second phase of drilling began in 1998, with each Previous HitwellNext Hit in the program presenting a unique set of challenges to the Amberjack team. In this presentation, the pore pressure case history of the early wells in this program is discussed.

Pore pressure work on the field, using offset Previous HitwellNext Hit RFT, sonic and resistivity data, indicated a pore pressure uncertainty range of 3 ppg, around which the A16ST (T) Previous HitwellNext Hit had to be planned. For a Previous HitwellNext Hit that was initially considered to be in a development/production setting, a surprising number of complications entered the Previous HitplanningNext Hit process.

During drilling, pressures were monitored using resistivity and Previous HitwellNext Hit performance data: the Previous HitwellNext Hit had to be sidetracked to reach TD. A post-Previous HitwellNext Hit pore pressure interpretation is proposed in which a series of pressure ramps were drilled in this Previous HitwellNext Hit. This conclusion is reached through the integration of all available pressure data sources in the Previous HitwellTop.
