Abstract
Abstract: Difficult Log Interpretations in “A Mature Area”
Water saturations from shaley sands and conglomerates are frequently pessimistic. We will show some reliable techniques that permit confident interpretation of such formations. These techniques will include both old logs with a MicroLog, and newer logs that require the use of the Gamma Ray with density porosity and/or neutron porosity.
We will also show why some carbonate rocks produce water with low water saturations and others produce oil with high water saturations. These techniques, though empirical, are well established but not widely used or understood.
