Abstract:
The use of water analyses in determining the source of oil-field waters is urged. The meaning of analyses and the different methods of graphic statement are illustrated. A new form of graph believed to be clearer and simpler to use is suggested. As an example of the use of water analysis, nineteen water analyses from the Tensleep, Dakota, Morrison, and Sundance sands of South Casper Creek, Poison Spider, and Notches, Wyoming, are tabulated and studied graphically; the conclusion being that the waters are distinguishable from analyses. The geochemical relations between oil and water are briefly reviewed.
