Abstract:
Oklahoma produced 136,807,000 barrels of crude oil in 1946, a decline of 2,420,000 barrels from 1945. Reserves are reported as 898,186,000 barrels; 8,347,000 above last year.
Development and exploration drilling exceeded last year. More than 3,000 wells were drilled. Of this number, exploration accounted for 588 wells, discovering 71 oil pools, 22 gas pools, 18 extensions, and 3 new producing formations in old pools. The large number of fields placed the state high in the column of new proved reserves.
The most promising discovery was the Southwest Antioch pool in Garvin County, T. 3 N., R. 2 W., discovered by Globe-Vickers' Gibson No. 1, in the center of SE. ¼, NE. ¼ of Sec. 30.
Geophysical activity in the state has kept pace with former years, and a notable shift has taken place in the numbers doing work in the Anadarko basin.
