Title: Developments in North Mid-Continent in 1951

Abstract:

A new record high was recorded in practically all categories of activity for Kansas for 1951. More than 4,500 wells were drilled. Of this number, exploration accounted for 1,366 wells, discovering 146 oil pools, 7 gas pools, and 111 classified as either extensions or new producing zones in old pools.

Productivity of new-well completions in 1951 reached a new record high of 1,060,928 barrels of oil.

Kansas produced 118,084,607 barrels of oil and casinghead gasoline during 1951, representing a new production record.

Geophysical exploration was on the increase and important new oil discoveries in western and southwestern Kansas resulted in an active leasing campaign.

There were no important developments resulting from the meager exploratory drilling in either Missouri, Iowa, or Nebraska east of the 100th meridian.
