Title: Developments in New York in 1955

Author(s): W. Lynn Kreidler (2)

Abstract:

Six wells were completed in the Oriskany gas sandstone area, with two of the wells completed as producers. One well in Cattaraugus County is believed to be the discovery well of a new Oriskany field. Medina sandstone drilling totaled 63 wells, with 65 per cent for gas storage. There were 372 development oil wells drilled during 1955, and the daily average for pipeline runs amounted to 7,912.5 barrels. One unsuccessful shallow wildcat oil well was drilled and two exploratory tests to the Ordovician were completed without success. Two important wildcat wells were drilling. Storage of gas in the Oriskany and Medina fields is progressing as anticipated at the beginning of 1955.
