Abstract:
Drilling activity in South Texas reached an all time high in 1955. Wildcat drilling increased 9.4% and development drilling increased 20.4%. The discovery ratio rose slightly with 122 producers. One major discovery, Olivia field in Calhoun County, is indicated. Extensions, new pays, and lesser discoveries have added considerable reserves. Oil, gas, and casinghead gas production were up in 1955. Geophysical activity decreased.
