Title: Developments in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota in 1959

Author(s): Robert H. Burton (2), John R. Dyer (3)

Abstract:

Exploratory drilling decreased sharply in both Montana and North Dakota, but showed strong gains in South Dakota. The North Dakota exploratory success ratio was nearly double that of the previous year, whereas Montana had no new oil field discoveries, but had the discovery of 3 new gas fields. Nisku beds of Devonian age were indicated to be productive for the first time in North Dakota.
