Drilling in the southeastern states increased slightly in 1962; 697 wells were drilled as compared with 690 in 1961. Mississippi was the most active state and had all of the new-field discoveries. Exploratory drilling increased slightly, maintaining the 11% success percentage. Development drilling decreased 3.7%.
Citronelle field had 62 completions, increasing over-all activity 51% in Alabama.
Three dry exploratory wells and one successful development well were drilled in Florida. One dry test was drilled in Georgia.
