Title: Developments in Wyoming and Idaho in 1962

Author(s): Robert L. Williams (2)

Abstract:

Exploratory drilling increased by 6% and development drilling declined by 31% in Wyoming during 1962. Three hundred and twenty-six new-field wildcats resulted in 14 gas discoveries and 19 new oil fields.

Stratigraphic traps in the Cretaceous and Pennsylvanian of the Powder River basin and the Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous of the Green River basin accounted for most of the discoveries and exploration interest. Activity increased slightly in the Wind River basin and followed the general level of the previous year in other areas.

Developments in 1963 are expected to follow approximately those of 1962.

No wells were drilled in Idaho during the year.
