Abstract:
Drilling activity in Indiana during 1963 was 24.1% less than in 1962. The amount of oil produced in 1963, about 12,200,000 bbls., was virtually unchanged from that of the previous year.
There were 59 exploratory successes during the year, a success ratio of 16.1% of the total exploratory holes drilled. The successes discovered 10 new fields, 26 new pools, and 23 pool extensions.
The search for stratigraphic entrapments in southwestern Indiana accounted for most of the drilling effort; greater than usual attention was given to deeper possibilities in Mississippian sedimentary rocks.
