Abstract:
District No. 7 includes the New England states, New Jersey, and New York. There were no oil and gas drilling activities in New England during 1967. Two shallow tests were drilled in New Jersey. A gravity survey was conducted in southern Connecticut, and marine electronic surveys and core-hole investigations were made in the North Atlantic off the coasts of New Jersey and New England.
There were 3 new gas discoveries in New York state during 1967: Lamberton pool, Chautauqua County (Medina); Genegantslet pool, Broome County (Medina, deeper pool test); and Wyckoff pool, Steuben County (Devonian reef and Oriskany sand). Fourteen exploratory wells were drilled to Cambrian and Ordovician formations. Oil and gas production both increased from 1966.
