Author(s): G. D. Ells (2), F. Layton (3)

Abstract:

Overall oil and gas activity was slightly below that of 1966. The most active regions of exploratory and development drilling were St. Clair and Macomb Counties, the Albion-Scipio trend area, and the western part of the state. Most of the 7 new discoveries were in the Central basin area.

Total drilled footage was 1,196,396. The total includes: exploratory, 519,219 ft; development, 589,004 ft; gas storage and miscellaneous classes, 88,173 ft.

Oil production was 13,664,185 bbl, and gas production was 33,241,639 Mcf. LPG production was 1,806,320 bbl.

A review of 1967 drilling and completion statistics indicates no new trends in exploration objectives or geographic regions of interest.
