Author(s): Robert L. Makins (2)

Abstract:

North-Central Texas is District 14, composed of Texas Railroad Commission Districts 7-B and 9. The number of wells drilled during 1967 in this district totaled 2,785 compared with 2,844 in 1966. Exploratory drilling declined 17.6%, from 730 tests in 1966 to 580 in 1967, with the number of successful exploratory tests remaining essentially the same. Production decreased 1,022,000 bbl. The abandonment of exploration in this area by the major oil companies was, for all practical purposes, completed in 1967.
