Title: Petroleum Developments in Far East in 1967

Author(s): Howard W. Dalton (2)

Abstract:

In 1967, oil production from non-Communist countries of the Far East increased 10% to 279,243,000 bbls, gains being registered in all countries. Geological and geophysical activity also increased to 743 party-months in 1967. Although the total number of wells, wildcat and development, was less than that recorded in 1966, the total footage, 1,447,033, was greater. Of significance was the Phillips' gas blowout in the Gulf of Papua near year end. Two areas, the Java Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, were opened to exploration during the year.
