Abstract:
Fold geometry of the subsurface Devonian Dundee, Traverse, and "Brown" limestones in a 900-sq-mi area of central Michigan is described in terms of quantitative numerical values. These descriptors are calculated for the folded bedding planes simulated by a double Fourier series surface-fitting technique. The Dundee Limestone (oldest) is more intensely folded than the Traverse and "Brown" limestones, and the thickness of the Traverse limestone is apparently partly controlled by flexures in the underlying Dundee Limestone.
