Title: Developments in Michigan in 1968

Author(s): G. D. Ells (2), F. Layton (3)

Abstract:

Overall oil and gas activity was similar to that of 1967. The most active regions of exploration and development drilling were St. Clair and Macomb Counties, the Albion-Scipio trend area, and the western part of the state.

Total drilled footage was 1,258,035. The total includes: exploratory, 547,400 ft; development, 647,099 ft; gas storage and miscellaneous classes, 63,536 ft.

Oil production was 12,974,405 bbl, and gas production was 39,685,162 Mcf. LPG production was 1,880,957 bbl.

A review of 1968 drilling and completion statistics indicates a slight trend to drill in the northern area of the state.
