Abstract:
Total drilling in eastern and northwestern Colorado and western Nebraska is the same as 1967. The Denver basin again received the most drilling, but wildcat drilling has declined in the Colorado part of the basin and increased significantly in the Nebraska part. Development drilling in the Denver basin was more successful than in 1967.
Southeastern Colorado experienced an increase in wildcat drilling activity and maintained a success of 12.5%. The increase in geophysical activity in southeastern Colorado indicates that more wells will be drilled in that area in 1969.
Drilling in northwestern Colorado was similar to last year, but a decline in the success percentage of wildcat drilling indicates a probable decline in drilling for that area in the coming year.
