Abstract:
Ammonites have been found in the basal La Casita Formation (= Cotton Valley of U. S.) near its contact with the Zuloaga Limestone (= Smackover Limestone of U. S.) near Monterrey, Mexico. An early Kimeridgian age is indicated for the basal La Casita. No diagnostic fossils have been found in the Zuloaga Limestone in northeastern Mexico, but its contact with the overlying La Casita is apparently conformable in the vicinity of Monterrey. Throughout the area the Zuloaga is underlain by the "Minas Viejas" evaporites (= Louann Salt of U. S.).
