Abstract:
Prolonged growth during sedimentation and subsequent thrusting are associated with a diapiric complex near Illamurta Springs in central Australia. This structure may lie on an approximately north-south zone characterized by diapiric growth, facies changes, and structural complexity that crosses the Amadeus basin at right angles to the younger, more obvious east-west trends of the Alice Springs orogeny. The transverse zone also may extend south, perhaps connecting with the diapiric belt in the Adelaide geosyncline.
