Abstract:
Exploratory and development drilling in the Four Corners-Intermountain area during 1970 was down from 1969. However, success rates were higher than in 1969. Significant discoveries were made in the Uinta basin of northeastern Utah, the Paradox basin of southwestern Colorado, and the San Juan basin of northwestern New Mexico.
Increased leasing and geophysical activity during 1970 together with the 1970 discoveries should result in a significant increase in both exploratory and development drilling during 1971.
