Abstract:
Recent detailed geologic mapping in western Guatemala has indicated a definite need for clarification of existing stratigraphic nomenclature, and has provided many new data. After summarizing the history of the stratigraphic terms that have been used, this paper recommends as a uniform nomenclature for future work: Santa Rosa Group (Permian); Todos Santos Formation (Jurassic-Cretaceous); and Ixcoy and Sepur Formations (Cretaceous).
