Title: Sparry White Dolomite and Porosity in Trenton Limestone (Middle Ordovician) of Northwestern Ohio: GEOLOGIC NOTES

Author(s): Ronald D. Stieglitz (2)

Abstract:

Sparry white dolomite is abundant in secondarily developed porosity within the dolomitized upper part of the Trenton Limestone in Williams County, Ohio. Comparison with sections from wells near a known structural feature in the central part of the state shows a similar thick upper dolomite, the presence of fractures, and secondary minerals filling former voids. Sparry white dolomite in well cuttings suggests the presence of brecciation and may be useful in recognizing structural features in the subsurface in northwestern Ohio.
