Title: Geochemical Relations of Fluids in Oil Fields of Gulf of Suez, Egypt: GEOLOGIC NOTES

Author(s): Mohamed Hossny Elzarka (2)

Abstract:

Study of the chemical properties of crude oil, formation water, and lithology of the host rocks shows trends of vertical and lateral variation of the chemical parameters for fluid components along the eastern strip of the Gulf of Suez. The lateral trends of chemical variation are (1) northwest-southeast, concordant with the structural trend of the gulf, and (2) southwest from land toward the gulf. These variations are attributed to postgenetic mutual reactions between fluid components as well as between these and the constituents of reservoirs in which they are entrapped.
