Abstract:
West Coast exploration continued at about the same pace as in 1975. The only exception was in Oregon, where no wells were drilled for oil or gas. No significant oil or gas discoveries were made in the California onshore. A major oil field may have been discovered in the southern California outer continental shelf.
Geothermal development at The Geysers continued to expand the area of production. An additional 271,000 kw of generating capacity is under construction. When completed, generating capacity at The Geysers will be 773,000 kw.
