Title: Oklahoma and the Panhandle of Texas

Author(s): Robert A. Northcutt (1)

Abstract:

Drilling activity in Oklahoma and the Panhandle of Texas increased significantly in 1980, both in number of wells drilled and footage cut. Exploratory tests increased 2%, and development wells increased a phenomenal 43%. Success rates improved for both exploratory tests, 40.57%, and development wells, 77.76%. Ten deep exploratory tests were drilled below 20,000 ft. Of the 9,882 wells drilled in the province, 27 producers and 5 dry holes are considered especially significant.
