Title: Oil and Gas Developments in Israel in 1981

Author(s): R. G. S. Hanreck (2), Paul R. May (3)

Abstract:

Approximately 70% of the sedimentary area of Israel is under license or other petroleum rights. Four drilling rigs and 4 seismic crews were working at the end of 1981. During the period 1979 to 1981, 24 exploratory wells and 3 development wells were drilled, resulting in 1 oil discovery and 1 gas discovery. Oil production from the Helez-Brur, Kokhav, and Ashdod fields declined 30.4% during 1979 to 1981. Gas production from the Zohar field area was shut-in during most of the period.
