Title: Tectonic History of Northern Alaska, Canadian Arctic, and Spitsbergen Regions Since Early Cretaceous: ERRATUM

Author(s): J. R. McWhae

Abstract:

The following two pages contain the corrected Figure 2 of the paper, "Tectonic History of Northern Alaska, Canadian Arctic, and Spitsbergen Regions Since Early Cretaceous," by J. R. McWhae, AAPG Bulletin, v. 70, no. 4 (April 1986), p. 430-450. The shaded overlays were inadvertently transposed in the original article.

Fig. 2. Regional tectonic map showing generalized present plate distribution with paleotrends and activities suggested beside individual structures (e.g., Ellesmerian, DL, Late Devonian); strike-slip faults may extend southward to Antler orogeny of western United States (*). Docking of Omolon block (Fujita and Newberry, 1982) between Eurasian and North American plates apparently occurred in Early Cretaceous. This was followed by development of Kaltag fault zone that split Alaskan plate from nose of North American plate. Kaltag fault may extend along Kuril volcanic arc (**) (Figure 1). Absolute present-day plate motions are from Minster and Jordan (1978). Bathymetric contour is 2,000 m. Romanzof disturbance (RD) is shown on a; Bylot Island (BI), Ellesmere Island (EI), Morris Jesup Rise (MJR), and Northwest Passage (NWP) are shown on b. Legend for this and other illustrations is shown in Figure 3.
